Stories & Songs From London's History
S.S. PRINCESS ALICE DISASTER //
Welcome to R.M. Anderson's London. I write songs inspired by real life events taken from the pages of London's history.
Here is the tale of the S.S. Princess Alice disaster of 1878. The greatest maritime tragedy in London's history. Over 600 people lost their lives that day, drowning in a rank River Thames, weighed down by their Sunday best clothing.
You've heard of the Titanic but experience the S.S. Princess Alice.
The Premier London History Songwriter
This is RM Anderson's London. I'm a songwriter that writes about people and events from London History.
When I decided to create this music, I thought it would be interesting to also tell the story in video, combined with the song.
In 2011 I released an episode a week for 365 days as part of a 'Song a Week' project, called 'Songs rom The Howling Sea. All inspired by East End history.
In 2012 I continued this theme in celebration of the London 2012 Olympics, with stories and songs taken from the 5 London host boroughs.
In 2021 in celebration of the 10yr anniversary of this collection, all content is revisited, re-recorded. revamped, refreshed. and re-released .
